On April 18th, U.S. Representatives Jim Costa (D-Fresno) and John Curtis (R-Utah) introduced the Restoring WIFIA Eligibility Act (H.R. 2671), which would provide flexibility for San Joaquin Valley water users to meet water quality standards and improve water storage. The measure would amend the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) of 2014, a program that accelerates investment in our nation's water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. The bill would clarify that federally owned infrastructure managed and operated by non-federal entities, such as the San Luis Delta-Mendota Water Authority and Friant Water Authority, are eligible for WIFIA financing.
