RCRC was founded more than 40 years ago to represent California’s small, rural counties on issues that are unique to them. With more than 5.5 million residents and comprising approximately 60 percent of the state’s land mass, the geography of our forty member rural counties ranges from forested and mountainous landscapes to coastal areas, desert regions, farm lands and vineyards. Over 80 percent of U.S. Forest Service land in our state lies within RCRC member counties, providing statewide residents and other visitors with some of the world’s most scenic and breathtaking recreational opportunities.
