The California Department of Finance released the state’s economic and jobs status, including its financial status for June.

RCRC-supported Senate Concurrent Resolution 97(Gaines) proposes to designate a portion of a Sacramento County freeway interchange as the “Senator Dave Cox Interchange.”

In an attempt to address a projected $16.7 billion shortfall (including a $1 billion reserve), today both houses of the Legislature passed a majority-vote state Budget for the 2012-13 fiscal year. 

RCRC, CSAC and the Urban Counties Caucus (UCC) have joined together in an effort to defeat Senate Bill 162 (Anderson R-San Diego), which was recently amended to ban the state from impeding a tribe’s ability to convert revenue-generating lands into tribal trust land if the application is for housing, environmental protection, or cultural preservation. 

According to testimony this week by California Resources Secretary John Laird, Governor Jerry Brown has agreed to withdraw a proposal to move the Delta Stewardship Council into the California Natural Resources Agency.

An RCRC-supported four-year grant to enhance pediatric emergency medical care on the rural north coast of California was secured this week.

Earlier this week Governor Jerry Brown released his May budget revision (http://www.dof.ca.gov/documents/2012-13_May_Revision.pdf), which showed a deficit of nearly $16 billion for California.

Today Governor Brown announced two appointments to the State Water Resources Control Board, both of whom require Senate confirmation and each of whom will earn $128,109: 1) Felicia Marcus of Emeryville, has served as western director at the Natural Resources Defense Council since 2008 and was executive vice president and chief operating officer at the Trust for Public Land from 2001 to 2008.
